Give Your Face a Lift : Dr. P. K. Talwar

Your face is a significant part of your identity. If your facial appearance is always looking tired, worn out, or haggard, it can take a toll on your self-confidence. According to statistics, facelifts are increasingly popular among both men and women. The first facelift was performed in Berlin in 1901 by surgeon Eugen Holländer.

Dr. P. K. Talwar, Director of New Delhi based Cosmetic Laser Surgery Centre of India said that Face Lift Surgery can restore a more rested and youthful appearance to your face, helping you to age more gracefully in the years to come.

What is Facelift
A facelift is a surgical procedure that is typically used to give a more youthful appearance to the face. Technically, it is also called a rhytidectomy. This type of cosmetic surgery reshapes the lower one-third of the face by removing excess facial skin. Some facelift procedures also include the tightening of underlying tissues. To achieve the best result, it is often combined with other additional procedures addressing the forehead, cheeks, brows and eyes.
According to leading cosmetic surgeon of India Dr. P. K. Talwar, a facelift is the most comprehensive approach to treating facial wrinkles and sagging caused by aging. The surgery varies in range from minimally invasive ‘lunchtime lifts’ to more extensive, sophisticated surgery. A facelift removes excess skin, tightens underlying tissues and muscle and redrapes skin on the face and neck. It can correct midface sagging, marionette lines, jowls and a double chin, maintaining its reputation as the ‘gold standard’ for facial rejuvenation. Every year, thousands of people undergo successful facelift surgery and are pleased with the results.

How is a facelift procedure performed?
Most facelift techniques focus on the lower facial areas, such as the jawline, jowls and cheeks. A facelift can also focus on the midface or the forehead. In some techniques, deeper facial tissues may be repositioned or tightened to restore a more youthful contour. In other techniques, removal or addition of fat or other soft-tissue fillers may be necessary to achieve the best results. Today, many different techniques exist with outcomes that can be consistently reliable, safe, and durable. Your incisions will depend on the area of the face that is targeted and the amount of change you want.

Benefits of a Facelift
Dr.Talwar said that there are a wide variety of benefits that you will receive when getting a facelift. For instance, you’ll automatically have a much more youthful and natural look to your face, which will aid in aging gracefully as the years pass by. This will also help to boost your confidence levels. A few of the primary advantages of having this procedure done include repairing loose skin for a smoother look, providing improvements for facial contours for a better looking jawline and tightening your facial muscles for less tension in the face.
New surgical techniques
There are new methods for performing facelifts. New surgical options are constantly being developed. These advances aim at improving cosmetic procedures:
§ Lasers: A face-lift procedure called laser neck and jaw liposculpture and resurfacing, uses lasers. This can be done through a one-inch incision under the chin using only a local anesthetic.
§ Endoscopy: Endoscopic techniques are now used to do face lifts and brow lifts. This method allows for smaller incisions. As a result, there are fewer traumas to tissues, and a faster recovery time. Facial structures are raised, and there is no need to cut away folds of skin. However, this type of procedure also depends on the patient.
§ Liposuction: This method is used to remove focal deposits of fat in the face. It is usually used in the area between the chin and neck. Liposuction can be combined with a face lift or performed separately.
