‘Rally of  CM flags off ‘Rally of Arunachal’ 2018

November 2, 2018: The Honourable Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Pema Khandu today flagged off the third round of MRF FMSCI (the Federation of the Motorsports Clubs of India) Indian National Rally Championships (INRC) in the capital city Itanagar. The event kicked off amidst the beautiful landscapes of Itanagar and along with the officials & dignitaries from the state government on 2nd November 2018.

Being hailed as the ‘Rally of Arunachal’, the most prestigious event in the Indian Motorsport of Rallying is being organised by The Motorsports Club of Arunachal (MSCA) – affiliated to the FMSCI, will culminate on 4th November, 2018 and is supported by Arunachal Pradesh Police. The third round of the INRC in Itanagar is witnessing participation from the rally teams of all the major automotive companies of the country.

The Rally of Arunachal 2018 is expected to promote the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh for adventure tourism including motor sports adventure. It is taking place at a time when the India’s Ministry of Tourism has declared 2018 as ‘The Year of Adventure Tourism’.

Speaking on the occasion, Honourable Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Pema Khandu said, “Arunachal Pradesh is popular among tourists for its splendid beauty and serene landscapes. After The Prime Minister’s Shri Narendra Modi’s visit in Feb this year, steered us to work more seriously on making Arunachal Pradesh as one of the best tourist destinations, not only in India but worldwide. Our Himalayan mountain ranges stretching across the entire state offer one-of-its-kind experiential road trip options. Our Government is committed to promote tourism in the state including adventure tourism as we understand the role that the sector plays in generating employment and attracting investment. I also congratulate the Motor Sports Club of Arunachal for bringing such a prestigious motor sport event in the state where the participation has doubled from the previous year. I wish good luck to all the participating teams.

The first day of the rally on 3rd November will witness flag off of the Special Stages (SS) from the Service Park. The SS will be run in a controlled environment on the National Highway for the thrill of the spectators. Thereafter, there will be four runs from Chimpu to Hollongi and back to Chimpu. This will be followed by three more runs from Chipmu to Hollongi and back to Chimpu on 4th November. The podium ceremony will take place on the same day.

In another important announcement to promote tourism in Arunachal Pradesh, the Honourable Chief Minister launched the state’s Tourist Police in the presence of key Government functionaries including the Director General of Police (DGP), Shri SBK Singh. Also on the occasion Tourist Police’s mobile app – Arunachal Suraksha, a brainchild of Shri Singh was launched.

Safety is a key aspect for any tourist visiting a destination. The launch of Tourist Police in the state is one of the initiatives that Arunachal Pradesh Police has taken to address the perception and concern of tourists regarding safety. NIC (National InFormatics Centre) did a fantastic job by launching the Arunachal Police Mobile App, which is a one-stop solution to all your tourists’ requirements. The initiative is being launched in seven districts of the state that includes Tawang, Bomdila, Itanagar, Ziro, Pasighat, Tezu, Namsai, and Changlang. Each of the districts has been provided with vehicles fitted with wireless communication equipment and manned by specially trained personnel to respond to the needs of any tourist in distress,” said Shri SBK Singh, Director General of Police (DGP), Arunachal Pradesh.

The Tourist Police with its distinctive vehicles, uniform and specialized training in soft skills, languages, rules and regulations and most importantly people friendly attitude aims to dispel any inhibitions a tourist may have while approaching them. Tourist Police personnel will be specially trained about crime against women and how to professionally respond to various situations concerning tourists. They will be also educated about the local tourist attractions and modes of transportation, accommodation, hospitals etc.
